Sure, players may come for the Xenomorphs, but they'll stay for the out-of-this-world gun fights and the wonderful job that the game does of creating tension and suspense when the battlefield falls silent. According to a recent video by Henderson (via VGC ), Battlefield 6 will be a 'soft reboot' of Battlefield 3, set in the modern era. Yes, Battlefield 2042 will have crossplay support. Players will also be able to play in improved and modified traditional game modes, like Conquest, Team Deathmatch, etc. One suspects that there are plenty of people who fall into the latter category, as there's still an awful lot of fun to be had with Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Battlefield 2042 will feature crossplay support, but restrictions apply based on platform generation. Battlefield 2042 introduces a new game mode called Hazard Zone, which will take the role of the main game mode in this release. Granted, this may be a case of too little too late for some, but those still having fun with the game will no doubt see it as a case of better late than never.

For those who are keeping score, that's exactly what happened with Cold Iron Studios' Aliens: Fireteam Elite, with the functionality being added into the game almost a full year on from its official release. No, Battlefield V is not cross-platform between PC and Xbox. PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 consoles (PC and console can opt-out from playing together). It's always nice when a game that didn't launch with crossplay support gets it in a future update. If Battlefield 6 can nail its launch and successfully rollout crossplay alongside it, we could very well be seeing the next big contender in the competitive shooter scene.
